Personality: Jean is a strong and idependant woman. She knows what she wants, and she does what it takes to get it. She's a loving and caring person, devoted to the Professor and his dream. She loves teaching at the institute, and would do anything it takes to protect her students. She's the mother figure around the mansion, and it's a role she takes great pride in. She can be a bit stubborn at times, and she tries to push herself too hard. She's afraid that her powers will never be as good as the Professors, and she tends to hold back while using them, still afraid of what might happen. But, with her best friend, Scott Summers, to help her get through things, she's pretty happy with her life.

Powers: Jean has both telepathic power, which enable her to read minds and communicate mentally and telekinetic powers, which allow her to levitate and manipulate objects by mental force. It is her telekinsis that is the stronger of the two however, due to mental blocks placed on her telepathy by the Professor when she was younger.

History: Jean Elizabeth Grey was born in Annadale-on-the-Hudson in upstate New York to Professor John Grey and his wife Elaine. She lived a quiet and peaceful life with her parents and older sister Sarah until she was ten years old.
At the age of ten Jean's best friend Annie Richardson was struck by an car while the girls were outside playing one day after school. It was that day that would change Jean's life forever. Her powers awoke and she could feel Annie's pain as she lay dying in Jean's arms. The event was so tramatic that Jean passed out and went into a comma for several weeks. When she recovered and came home from the hospital, her parents attempted to get her back into school, but Jean could still feel Annie in her head and was very depressed. While sitting in class, Jean would hear voices coming at her from at every which way and she would panic, causing her to scream out loud in the middle of class. Her parents finally pulled her out of school and began searching for someone who could help their child.
It was then that Jean's parents sought the help of Professor Charles Xavier. The Professor explained to Jean's parents that she had special gifts and if they allowed him to, he could help Jean. Her parents agreed and Jean was sent off to Professor Xavier's School for Gifted Youngsters. Because of her young age, Xavier placed mental blocks on Jean's telepathy until she was old enough to learn to control it. In the mean time he helped her to hone her telekinetic skills.
It was at the school that Jean met Scott Summers. The two became friends almost instantly, and they remain so. Scott is the one that keeps Jean sain when things get crazy and reminds her there's more to life than the school.

After graduating from high school, Jean went on to college, majoring in pre-med with the intention of going to med school, but it was decided that she was needed more at the institute, so she agreed to stay and teach and help out where ever she is needed. She also joined the original students of Xavier's in becoming an X-Men. A group of superheroes out to save the world and continue the Professor's dream of mutants and humans co-exsisting peacefully in the world.
